I use archival materials to print, mat and frame my photographs, so with reasonable care they should last for generations. For prints up to 16" square I print the photographs myself. Larger images are custom printed for me by a lab that specializes in fine art prints. I mat and frame all of the photographs myself, and hand sign, date, and (where applicable) number each print.
Check the description of the photograph in the gallery pages for the print sizes available for each photograph, or contact me for more information. The sizes listed are the size of the actual image. The mat and frame will typically add 6 to 9" to each dimension, so a 12" x 12" photograph is approximately 20" x 21" when matted or framed. See the second table below for the exact sizes for the framed images.

Framed Sizes:
The dimensions listed below are my standard frame sizes. If you are ordering a matted print and want the matted print to fit into a stock frame please let me know because I can adjust the mat proportions on most image sizes to fit a standard frame. For example, the 12" x 12" images can be matted with a 20" x 24" matt, which will fit a standard 20" x 24" frame.

Frames and Mats:
I have tried a wide variety of frames and mats, and for the nature photographs I settled on simple, museum-quality metal frames and warm white museum-quality mats that put the emphasis on the photograph rather than the frame. For the Silhouette Series photographs I use a wider black metal frame and a dark gray mat that compliments these photographs. Again, the mats and frames are museum-quality. Other frames are available or you can purchase a photograph unframed and work with a local framing company to select a frame that suits your tastes and decor.
On the 12" x 12" and 11" x 14.7" (and larger) framed photographs I normally use an extra thick, 8-ply mat board that is 1/8" thick. I also use this mat board for matted, un-framed 20" x 20" photographs and for all Silhouette Series photographs. Aside from that, I normally use 4-ply mat board but for an extra charge I can use 8-ply mat board on request. Contact me for pricing information.
Frameless Panel Box:
The Frameless "panel box" prints are mounted on a wood "panel box." The print goes right to the edge of the panel and the edges of the panel that go back to the wall are stained black hardwood. There is a standard picture wire attached to the back of the box to hang it by, but because the box is hollow the picture wire can be inset which means the panel box hangs flat against the wall rather than leaning out a little as with a standard picture frame. The image is protected with a clear UV-blocking coating. The finished dimensions of the mounted print are the same as the dimensions of the print. This beautiful, contemporary mounting system puts the focus on the image rather than the framing.
Frameless Komatex:
The frameless "Komatex" prints are mounted on 1/4" thick black Komatex® Sintra with a hidden hanging system attached to the back and a clear UV-blocking coating on the front to protect the print. The finished dimensions of the mounted print are the same as the dimensions of the print. This stunning mounting system allows the image to float in front of the wall without a frame or visible mounting system. People have mistaken a photograph of a rock for a real piece of rock when the photograph is displayed this way!
Sales Tax:
For photographs sold in Massachusetts I must collect 6.25% sales tax on the purchase price, including the shipping fee (if any). For other states, if I deliver the photograph to you in person or you buy the print from me in person, I must collect the local sales tax, but if I ship the photograph to you across state lines I do not need to collect sales tax.
Delivery Time:
I mat and frame pictures to order, so please allow 1 to 2 weeks for delivery. If you have a tighter schedule please let me know and I will let you know if I can meet your schedule.
Shipping:
Shipping is figured based on the sizes of the prints and how they are mounted, as listed below. For orders containing multiple sizes or mounting methods the shipping will generally be figured based on whichever item is most expensive to ship. For example, if an order contains both framed and unframed photographs the shipping will generally be figured based on just the framed items. The prices listed below are for shipping with the US. For shipping to non-US addresses or if you have any questions, please contact me.
- Photographs Only (except 42" x 42" photographs): $8 per order for any number of photographs.
- Matted Photographs:
- Smaller than 20" x 20" (image size): $8 per order for any number of matted photographs.
- 20" x 20" (image size) matted photographs: $20 per order for any number of photographs.
- Frameless mounted photographs (except 42" x 42" and 30" x 30"): $12 per order for any number of photographs.
- Framed photographs smaller than 20" x 20" (image size): $24 for the first photograph and $12 for each additional photograph.
- All other photographs (20" x 20" framed photographs, 30" x 30" and 42" x 42" prints and frameless mounted photographs) please contact me for shipping prices as these items require special packing and shipping.
